Behind the scenes at World Mastercard S/S ’14 Fashion Week in Toronto, Redken’s Jorge Joao spoke with his team of hairdressers, running down the looks that they’ll be creating before models hit the runway for designers including Pink Tartan, Beaufille and David Dixon.
Here are three tips that he offered up to the Redken team before they got styling.
1. Choose Your Hair Products Wisely
Before you get started, Joao recommends asking the model how many show’s the have that day, then decide how much product you’ll need and how you’ll adapt the hair to the next look.
2. Turn Up Volume
By the time the model leaves your chair, Joao suggests that their hair be styled a bit beyond where you want it to be when they walk down the runway. Having a little more volume in the style makes it easier for stylists backstage to control the look right before the model is about to hit the runway.
3. Lock In Style
Similar to opting for the right products, Joao says that using right amount of heat is essential for keeping the style set from your chair and onto the runway.
