On April 30th, more than 250 hairstylists and colourists gathered at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto for Redken Canada’s first-ever RK Runway SS23.
The event was held to showcase the brand’s spring/summer 2023 hair colour trends and latest innovation, Color Gels Oils, the brand’s new liquid permanent, ammonia-free colour that provides up to 100 per cent grey coverage with shiny, conditioned results for all hair types and textures.
Redken’s new general manager, Lucas Postigo-Rombola, took the stage to welcome attendees to the event.
“RK Runway is the first-ever of its kind, and it doesn’t matter where you come from or where you’re going, we’ve all come together for the love of hair,” says Postigo-Rombola. “It’s about education, celebrating artistry and in-person connection.”
The brand’s new director of education, Katrina Smiley, also took the stage to share a few inspiring words with the crowd. “At Redken, we’re committed to professionals learning, earning and living their best lives,” she says.
Redken’s Canadian ambassadors, Vancouver-based hairstylist and salon owner, Chris Weber, and Quebec-based hairstylist and salon owner, Max Gourgues, led colour demonstrations to showcase two different looks (including copper and highlights), both created with Color Gels Oils.
Among the attendees was Redken’s new marketing manager, Maninder Gill, brand managers, Christina Sluyter and Leslie Deletraz, national sales manager, Ilsee de Lavison, business development manager, Crystal Borges, among other members of the brand’s leadership team.
After the on-stage demos and education, attendees were invited upstairs for a networking cocktail reception before making their way down to the RK Runway dance floor.
