As the colder months approach, clients may be ready for a fresh haircut that feels current while still being easy to style. For A/W 2026, men’s hair trends are balancing texture, natural movement and polished finishes, with versatile cuts that can be customized to suit different hair types and personal styles.
According to Jim Shaw, multi award-winning men’s hairdresser and director at TONI&GUY Billericay, these four men’s hairstyles are worth having on your radar for autumn and winter.
Modern Textured Crop
The modern textured crop gives the classic short haircut a softer, more relaxed finish. The cut features choppy, point-cut layers through the top with a soft forward fringe or micro-fringe, paired with a low or mid taper fade rather than a harsh skin fade.
The softer transition through the sideburns and neckline creates a more refined finish, while the messy, textured top adds natural volume and movement. For styling, Shaw recommends working a small amount of matte clay or paste through damp or dry hair, directing the hair forward towards the forehead.
For clients maintaining a tapered finish, Shaw recommends booking a barber appointment every two to four weeks to keep the cut looking fresh.
Soft Mullet
The soft mullet remains a key men’s haircut for A/W 2026, offering a more wearable take on the statement style. Instead of dramatic lines and shaved sides, this version incorporates gentle tapers, textured layers and a subtle, flowing shape through the back.
The cut can work across straight, wavy and curly hair types. A soft scissor cut or gentle taper through the sides blends into the temples, while point-cutting or razor work can be used to remove weight and create a lighter, more lived-in finish through the fringe and crown.
For styling, a lightweight volumizing product, such as a sea salt spray, can be scrunched through the hair to enhance texture and natural movement.
Flowy Middle Part and Curtains
The flowy middle part and curtain hairstyle is a strong option for clients embracing medium-length hair this season. Defined by a centre part and soft layers that sweep back from the face, the style creates natural movement and volume without looking overly structured.
This men’s hairstyle works particularly well on straight, wavy or lightly curly hair with enough length around the ears and eyes. Soft layers help remove excess weight, allowing the hair to move freely rather than fall flat.
For a flexible finish, Shaw recommends using a small amount of lightweight styling cream and combing it through with the fingers.
Old Money Slick Back
For clients looking for a more polished men’s haircut, the old money slick back offers a timeless option for autumn and winter. The style is particularly suited to the season’s celebrations, combining a refined finish with natural movement.
Rather than a sharp fade, the sides are softly blended, while Shaw recommends keeping approximately three inches of length on top. This gives the hair enough length to sweep back while maintaining movement instead of sitting completely flat against the scalp.
The result is a polished and intentional men’s hairstyle that feels sophisticated without looking overly styled.
