The professional beauty and salon industry is a generous one with many salons looking for ways to be involved in local communities through philanthropic opportunities and conscious efforts to give back.
Over the past ten years, Aveda Earth Month Canada has worked closely with salons, spas and supporters alongside WaterAid Canada to bring clean water, basic hygiene and proper sanitation to those in need. Together the two organizations have raised over $3.1 million and saved 124,000 lives.
To commemorate this successful partnership, this year all fundraisers who raised over $7500 for the program were able to head overseas to participate in a study tour of Madagascar where they’d have the opportunity to see firsthand where their efforts have made a difference in local communities with small-scale, community-driven water supply and sanitation projects.
To tie it all together, Aveda has used Madagascan ingredients like organic vanilla, cinnamon, essential oils and ylang-ylang to create its annual limited edition Earth Month Light the Way candle.
