For our September colour issue, we collaborated with Redken Canada for an exclusive cover shoot and worked with the brand’s talented team of international artists, who showcased their creativity to bring their imaginative ideas to life. The result: Bold colours and shapes that make a statement and promote trends like metallic hues.
“The purpose behind the collection was to expose all the colours that Redken offers, says colourist Catherine Allard. “We created some shades with an ‘underground’ feel and combined softness and boldness together to create metallic tones.”
The photo shoot also provided the Redken Canada team with the opportunity to showcase their styling and colour concepts in order to express their theme. “One of the biggest inspirations behind this collection was the theme of androgyny,” says stylist Jorge Joao. “Our shapes are very strong and bold. We really wanted to make a statement.”
Redken Canada’s objective was to create a diverse collection that included a little bit of everything for everyone. “The story that we are embracing is that Redken is a colour brand,” says Terry Ritcey, director of education and events for Redken Canada. “We wanted to create strong looks that speak to strength and the true spirit of pushing boundaries for education. We incorporated strong lines and linear shapes that express boldness and edginess. We show a lot of muted and metallic tones, as well as linear shapes that are reminiscent of the ’90s.”
