Six celeb wedding hairdos and don’ts
Some of these celeb marriages didn’t last, but lucky for us photo evidence of their wedding day hair will live on forever. With wedding season in full swing, take inspiration from six celebrity brides for your client’s hairdos and don’ts.
WORST: Katie Holmes
Holmes is super adorable; we just wish someone would’ve taken care of those disheveled baby hairs around her hairline. The look couldn’t be more unflattering.
BEST: Adele
OK, so this crooner may not be married yet but brides-to-be and stylists could learn a lesson from her classic chignons and bouffants. When a bride asks for a sophisticated updo that’s not boring, this style nails it. “With Adele’s look she has a full puffy crown that is almost bouffant-ish,” says celebrity hairstylist and updo guru Martin Parsons. “We’re finding a lot of girls like more fullness in the crown and are using braiding in place of hair bands.”

WORST
WORST: Luisana Lopilato
Michael Bublé recently wed beautiful actress Luisana Lopilato in her native Argentina. When they held a second ceremony in Vancouver, her hair choice seemed a bit dated (notice the giant, stiff Barbie-like curls).

BEST
BEST: Kate Middleton
It was called the “wedding of the century” and no bride has been more scrutinized than Middleton. With the world watching. we think Kate Middleton’s half updo pulled off princess while staying true to her personality.

WORST
WORST: Britney Spears
We all remember when the pop star secretly wed K-Fed in 2004 and her hair proved to be as disastrous as her marriage. Instead of her classic blonde hue, the singer opted for a dark and shapeless style (if it can be called that).

BEST
BEST: Mariska Hargitay
When the CSI actress got hitched in 2004, she opted for a look that she won’t cringe at in years to come. The side-swept chignon and petite roses added interest but were subtle enough not to overwhelm her ‘do. “Updos are now a lot softer than what we used to do. They’re not as rigid, sprayed and uniform…they’re more touchable,” says Parsons.
