Short Hair: Punk-inspired Volume
Kirsten Stewart wears her short hair with a rocker-chic edge, perfect for an after hours soiree. Macadamia Professional’s International Creative Director and celebrity stylist, Giannandrea created this look by applying Macadamia Professional’s Foaming Volumizing Mousse all over, before creating a side part and combing the hair up from the back to create a pompadour-like style. Next, he dried the lop layer of hair with a large round bush for extra lift, and smoothed back the sides with Macadamia Professional’s Healing Oil Spray. He created piece-y texture throughout with a quarter-sized amount of Macadamia’s Whipped Detailing Cream before flat ironing the ends and finishing with Macadamia Professional’s Control Spray to set the look.
Medium Hair: The Undone Updo
Naomi Watts’ intricate bun looks undone but glamorous and modern all at the same time. Giannandrea applied Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer to damp hair before drying with a large round brush. Next, he set the hair with medium velcro rollers, spraying each section with Macadamia Professional Control Spray first. Then he brushed out the waves, created a centre part, and back brushed hair at the crown, using a bit of Macadamia Professional Dry Shampoo to add some grip. He then pulled hair toward the nape of the neck, creating a soft messy bun by twisting pieces and pinning them into place, letting some fall loose for a deconstructed feel. To finish, he used a 1-inch curling iron on the front pieces to create a bit of curl before finishing with a light hair spray.
Long hair: Retro Glam Waves
Reese Witherspoon’s super sexy waves are relaxed and loose for a fresh, more modern take on this often overdone style. Giannandrea applied Macadamia Foaming Volumizer to wet hair before creating a deep side part and blowdrying Reese’s hair in large sections, focusing on creating volume all over. With a 1-inch curling iron, he waved only the front of the hair only, before brushing the hair out to soften the waves. He added a dime size amount of Macadamia’s Healing Oil Treatment through the lengths to add shine, and brushed out the hair again, before setting with Control Working Spray.
Colour lovers: Blended Pastels
Sell clients on a subtle colour update for the season that will make them sparkle, inspired by Kate Hudon’s soft pink colour splashes. Pravana Guest Artist Danny Mon of Andy LeCompte Salon suggests recreating this look by applying a formula of ChromaSilk 9000 with 30 vol. on the new growth, and Pure Light Power Lightener with developer from the new growth to ends (creating a level 10 highlight throughout) before rinsing and shampooing (using a line like VIVIDS Color Protect). Once the hair is dry, apply a formula of equal parts VIVIDS Pink and PASTELS Pretty in Pink to selected strands, varying from roots to ends and mid-shaft to ends. Allow it to process for 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature before washing and conditioning.
