Highly anticipating this year’s Oscars Awards which took place on March 4, 2018, we were excited to see what hair and beauty looks would walk the red carpet.
While many opted for classic waves or traditional updos, the 90th anniversary celebration featured an array of stunning ensembles and star-studded hair looks. Here are a few that caught our attention.
Allison Williams
Allison Williams brought a taste of vintage glamour to the red carpet with her beautiful Old Hollywood-inspired waves. Her nude fairytale-like Armani Privé couture gown featured crystal embellishment, pairing perfectly with her long earrings which pulled together the look with just the right amount of sparkle. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
Laura Dern
With loose waves and side part tucked behind her ear, Laura Dern’s hairstyle had that relaxed appeal that’s consistent with the current redcarpet styling trends. By keeping her makeup to a sheer, glowing finish the award-winning actress had a polished style that complimented the impact of her white column gown. — Anna Lee Boschetto, editor-in-chief
Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o’s thick asymmetrical braids adorned with a simple, ultra-thin, golden ribbon was both elegant and regal, while the metallic tone picked up the shimmer from her chainmail Versace gown. Kudos to Lupita for not shying away from her reading glasses; sharp and modern with a black and transparent cat-eye frame. — Yasmin Grothé, editor-in-chief (French)
Timothée Chalamet
Opting for an all-white Berluti suit and Chelsea boots, Timothée Chalamet made a statement on the red carpet. His textured hairstyle created an undone appearance that worked with the crisp ensemble. His white bow tie was a nice touch which pulled together the overall sophisticated look. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
Jennifer Lawrence
Always known for her red-carpet surprises, Jennifer Lawrence embraced her natural texture at the 90th annual Oscars—sporting voluminous waves that cascaded just below her shoulders. Complete with an ultra-flattering centre part, her hair paired perfectly against her shimmering metallic Dior gown. To complete the look, Lawrence wore an earthy orange-red lip and a dark brown cat-eye for a dramatic effect. — Veronica Boodhan, managing editor
Zendaya

Opting for a chocolate-coloured asymmetrical Giambattista Valli Couture gown, The Greatest Showman’s Zendaya proved that a simple, slicked-back top bun can be enough to make a statement. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
Allison Janney
A side swept fringe softened Allison Janney’s slick upswept hairstyle for an elegant style that accentuated the sweetheart neckline of her classic red gown. With her makeup offering a natural glow, Janney’s smoky eye was a sultry way to complete this impactful look. — Anna Lee Boschetto, editor-in-chief
Armie Hammer
Also opting for a unique suit was Armie Hammer, who swapped the traditional black tux for a burgundy velvet suit by Giorgio Armani. Accessorized with a Montblanc watch, his black dress shoes and bow tie made for a delicate accent. — Lucy Mazzucco, digital editorial coordinator
