This season’s makeup mood is unguarded and romantic. Check out these three fashion-forward makeup looks, inspired by nature and the runways.
Popping Accents
Take a cue from the Stella McCartney Spring 2013 runway, where makeup artist Pat McGrath did pops of colourful liner on the lower rim of the eyes for a cool-girl chic take on spring brights.
To adapt this to the everyday client, try Mirabella Magic Marker liquid eyeliner in Blue Streak and So Jaded gives clients a chance to get playful with these bright colours, which can add clean and simple accents for an outstanding effect.
Pink Haze
For a warmer interpretation of the smoky eye, trade in cinnamon and pink hues for the the steely grays and blacks of fall. Models at Donna Karan sported neon pink liner and mascara, but you can make this high fashion trend work for everyday as well.
Get this look with Aveda’s new Art of Nature S/S13 collection, using Petal Essence single colours on the eyes in Bare Bellis, Cinnamon Bar and Lantana; Petal Essence Face Accents in Hibiscus for the cheeks; and Nourish-Mint Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Melochia Bloom. Smother the colour with an eye smudger.
Green and Glowing
Make the most of the official colour of the year, emerald green, by updating your client’s makeup choices. Our runway inspiration comes from Michael Kors’ Spring 2013 show, where models sported green streaks of liner above the crease.
Create a dewy complexion with Aveda’s Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and concealer where needed. Set with Inner Light Mineral Loose Powder. For the eyes, prep lids by pressing Aveda Petal Essence single eye color in Lemongrass from the lash line to the crease with a medium brush. Then, highlight the inner corner, top and bottom of the eye in Petal Essence Papyrus. Contour the outer corners of the eyes with a contour brush and define the bottom lash with Petal Essence Cinnamon Bark. Finally, soften the outer edges of the cinnamon shadow with Petal Essence Lantana just above the crease.
