It was an event filled with joy as Joico launched their new #AcademyofHair in Toronto on Sunday, November 24, 2019.
Bringing together beauty professionals from salons across Canada, the night featured an inspiring and educational presentation by Joico global artistic director Richard Mannah and Canadian platform artist Melissa Duguay, who showcased Joico’s Color Intensity collection. Five different models each featured a vibrant pastel tone in their hair.
The night also featured the brand’s customized magazine cover photo booth for the guests to have fun with on social media.
The celebration of the academy launch continued on Monday, where guests were divided into two breakout rooms to learn cutting techniques from Richard Mannah and Larisa Love’s famous Pick Me Up colouring technique from Melissa Duguay.
Mannah demonstrated techniques for the classic bob, cutting one of the models with shoulder-length, straight hair. “I over-direct each section to the stationary guideline for maximum length and weight through the sides and keep my fingers parallel to the stationary guideline.”
Duguay shared her tips for folding foils. “I like to start in the front, compared to starting in the back, because the product is going to be there a little bit longer. It’s going to process a little bit longer and you are going to get the most result on where the focus is.”
