SM: Who are your styling influences?
JL: My Moods Family! I also love Angelo Seminara’s work.
SM: Where you do find your inspiration?
JL: International hair collections, runway, sub-cultures, nature, and what’s happening in my life.
SM: What’s your secret weapon?
JL: My Kasho shears, love them!
SM: What’s the next milestone you want to achieve in your career?
JL: To win another Contessa and to become a salon owner.
SM: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone entering the Contessas for the first time?
JL: Give yourself a lot of time, be patient with your craft. Practice!
SM: What are your top tips for working with a team, both in and out of the salon?
JL: Work with people who are hairnerds! Passion is key, dro all ego, be willing to learn from everyone, and bring your A-game.
SM: What’s your process for planning a collection?
JL: Find your inspiration, collect images, plan your looks, practice, and then have a series of panic attacks, mixed with lack of sleep, and hopefully a little creative genius!
SM: Who’s the first person you called when you found out you were a Contessa finalist?
JL: My Mom & Dad!
