Each year, seven salon owners from the Midwest U.S. join forces, in partnership with Coty Professional Beauty and their brands, Wella Professionals and Sebastian Professional, to raise money and awareness for charity. This year, it was in support of BrainUp, a non-profit organization that raises awareness for brain cancer.
Last month, more than 300 guests gathered in Chicago’s Park West to see Wella Professionals’ top artist and owner and creative director of Supernova Salon in North Vancouver, Dana Lyseng, and Sebastian Professional international artist Anthony Cole, tag team on stage to showcase cut, colour and styling techniques during Hair2Help’s live runway show.
The event kicked off with a $10,000 donation to BrainUp from the seven participating salon owners: Jeffrey LaMorte and Jason LaMorte of Jeffrey LaMorte Salons, Bob Lamorte and Patrick Fuller of Robert Jeffery Salon, Chuck Morris of Charles Morris Salon, Vance Theodour of Salon Evangelos and Chris Valavanis of Vanis Salons.
“We started doing these events together to pool our resources for our staff and to make things bigger and better than each of our individual salons could do alone,” says Jeffery LaMorte.
“Our staff has always been strong advocates for giving back, whether it’s a cause that has affected one of us directly or in any other way we can help someone who is struggling. This year’s support of Brain Up has inspired my team beyond measure,” adds Jason LaMorte.
“I feel by teaming up with like-minded salons and pooling education dollars, we are able to bring in really top-notch education in a more intimate space. This allows us, as salon owners, the occasion to not only watch our own staff and see them absorbing the education, but to also watch the other stylists from other salons. When you embrace other salons, there is an amazing opportunity to learn so many other viewpoints and every single person comes away with knowledge.” says Chuck Morris.
