Your clients are looking to be wowed today more than ever before. They can get a decent haircut, colour or service anywhere–but can that get a world-class experience everywhere?
I believe the answer to that is no, and this presents an opportunity for you. Here are the first five fundamentals that can set you apart.
1. Make every service special.
A great technical service should be a given, whether it’s a haircut, colour or other service. Make them look good. But this is only the starting point to the exceptional service.
2. Preparation is key.
Be prepared for your clients visit. Make sure you know each client who is coming in to see you. Do you know their history and or how much money they tend to spend per ticket? Are they a new client, referral, repeat, etc.? Are you mentally prepared and does your station and surroundings look clean and neat?
3. Greet them right.
You never get a second chance to make great first impression. That first 15-30 seconds with you, whether in person or over the phone, can make the difference in how the appointment goes, so make it count. Leave a great impression and it will create an impact on your clients.
4. The consultation counts.
Invest time in finding out what the client’s needs and objectives for their visit are. Ask great questions to find out what they are looking to achieve. Dig deep and listen to what they are telling you. Ask what has worked for them in the past, find out how long they spend on their hair and what they are trying to achieve from their visit.
5. The shampoo IS important.
Whether you are doing the shampoo, or if it’s an assistant, make it count. It’s interesting that surveys have been conducted and one key differentiator in salon quality has been the attention taken in the shampoo. Most people are unhappy with their shampoo. This is just another opportunity for you to excel!
