After years of speculation, Dyson has announced the launch of its Supersonic Professional hair dryer.
Not only does it look unlike any other hair dryer we’ve ever seen, but it also operates differently as well. Designed with Dyson’s patented digital motor V9 and Air Multiplier technology, the lightweight hair dryer is powerful yet doesn’t emit a loud noise or expose hair to extreme heat.
The Supersonic Professional hair dryer features four heat settings, including a cold shot and three airflow settings. It also comes with two magnetic attachments—a professional concentrator and diffuser—to allow you to further refine the airflow.
Matthew Collins, celebrity hairstylist and brand ambassador for Dyson Canada says it makes a huge difference in the way he styles hair.
“Some people tend to hold the nozzle of their blow dryer because the motor is in the top so it drags your wrist down. The Dyson Supersonic’s motor is in the handle, so the weight is in the palm of your hand. It is engineered for balance. I’ve noticed that my hand feels substantially better,” he says.

Dyson invested nearly $100 million into the development of the revolutionary hair dryer and dedicated more than four years of testing on different hair types.
Collins says the Dyson Supersonic Professional will help him save time in his salon.
“When you’re sectioning the hair, you put the hair dryer down or away from the hair because if the back of it is towards the head, the filter will suck in the hair. Now I just hold the blow dryer the whole time. I don’t have to worry about that. It’s so well designed,” he explains, adding “this is by far the most powerful blow dryer I’ve ever used.”
The Dyson Supersonic Professional will be available in titanium/silver on DysonCanada.ca in August.
