Last night was the 73rd Golden Globes and while there were some expected wins (plus a whole list of shows and movies we need to watch), as always, we were keeping an eye on the best beauty looks of the night. It was no surprise many of the starlets kept things classic and undone (the lob is still here in full force), but there were some unexpected hairstyle winners (plus, hair secrets revealed, like Katy Perry’s bumpit). Here are our editors’ top hair picks at the Golden Globes.
“Laverne Cox’s elegant side chignon offered a modern twist on classic Old Hollywood style which paired beautifully with her dark plum lip. The hairstyle was also a compliment for her simple yet dramatic white custom gown from designer Elizabeth Kennedy.” – Anna Lee Boschetto, editor-in-chief
“I can’t get enough of Jamie Lee Curtis and daughter walking the red carpet in matching silver hair. Mom, as nature intended (maybe!), and daughter with the mandatory lightening and toner for that perfect sterling silver hue.” – Yasmin Grothé, editor-in-chief
“Golden Globes nominee Rooney Mara spiced things up on the red carpet with her high ponytail braid, giving a high-fashion feel to the ultra-nude look she was rocking. Plus, it provided great hairspo for second-day styles.” – Ashley Kowalewski, associate editor
“I love Alicia Vikander’s structured updo. The side twist highlights her gorgeous cheek bones and the tight twists in the back keep the look classy but not-so-perfect, which is very much on-trend.” – Nicole Lippay, associate online editor
