Being in the last half of summer, it’s not too soon to start thinking about fall nail trends. Jennifer Mather, CND education ambassador, shares five original nail art tutorials using the new CND Forbidden collection.
Snakeskin
- Apply a thin coat of CND Dark Dahlia Shellac and cure for two minutes.
- Apply a thin coat of CND Steel Gaze Shellac. Wrap nail in a piece of tulle and cure for 60 seconds. Remove tulle.
- Lightly dust random areas of the nail surface with CND Additive Titanium Pearl. Apply one thin layer of Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.
Dahlia Sponge
- Apply a thin coat of CND Dark Dahlia Shellac and cure for two minutes. Repeat with a second coat.
- Use a sponge to dab on CND Tinted Love Shellac in random areas on the nail surface. Repeat with Steel Gaze Shellac. For a special effect, add a small amount of glitter and cure for two minutes.
- Apply a thin coat of CND Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.
Night Glimmer
- Apply a thin coat of CND Night Glimmer and cure for two minutes. Repeat with a second coat.
- Using a detail or striping brush, apply CND Steel Gaze Shellac in a downward stripe through the centre of the nail. To refine the line, use a Brisa Gel brush that has been lightly moistened with 99 per cent alcohol to remove any excess.
- Apply a wider stripe of CND Steel Gaze Shellac down one side of the nail, leaving a small margin of free space from the centre line. Lightly moisten a detail or striping brush with 99 per cent alcohol and remove the Shellac in a slightly upturned line, pointed toward the cuticle. Repeat the upturned line as many times as desired until the design is complete. Cure for two minutes.
- Finish by applying CND Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.
Diamonds
- Apply a thin layer of CND Steel Gaze and cure for two minutes. Repeat with a second layer.
- Apply CND Tinted Love Shellac in a triangle shape on each side of the nail so that the pointed corners meet at the centre of the nail. Use a Brisa Gel brush that has been lightly moistened with 99 per cent alcohol to define the lines. Cure for two minutes.
- Apply CND Dark Dahlia Shellac in a small diamond shape, slightly overlapping the tips of the triangles. Define the diamond shape with a Brisa brush moistened with 99 per cent alcohol, and cure for two minutes.
- Apply CND Shellac Top Coat and cure for two minutes.
Blue Rapture
- Apply a thin coat of CND Blue Rapture and cure for two minutes. Repeat with a second coat.
- Apply CND Steel Gaze in a medium-thick diagonal stripe near the cuticle. Apply CND Tinted Love Shellac in a thick diagonal stripe across the bottom of the nail, covering a third of the nail surface. Define lines with a Brisa brush moistened with 99 per cent alcohol, and cure for two minutes.
- Apply CND Dark Dahlia in a skinny triangle shape: paint the base in the lower third of the nail surface and extend the narrowing triangle to the opposite side of the nail. Repeat the shape by starting at the top third of the nail surface, following the diagonal line created by Steel Gaze. Cure for two minutes.
- Add a skinny triangle shape to the lower third of the nail in CND Steel Gaze so that the triangles line up to each other, facing the opposite direction. Cure for two minutes. Apply CND Shellac Top Coat and cure for another two minutes.
