Back in May, Texas’ Santa Fe High School was hit with a tragedy leaving the rural town filled with grief and devastation.
To give back to the community in a time of need, former graduate of the school and hairstylist Marco Hinojosa, coordinated makeovers for over 250 students attending the school’s upcoming graduation; to which he called the “Tribal Tuneup” in reflection of the school’s mascot.
In total, Hinojosa was able to gather 25 hairstylists and 20 barbers, and reached out to Houston-based company, Farouk Systems, Inc. to ask for styling tools and products that could help make this act of kindness happen.
“I thought it would be a nice way to give back and to have everyone come together in a positive/fun way prior to graduation.” says Marco Hinojosa.
Dr. Farouk Shami says, “There are no words when such senseless tragedies take place, but it was an honour to help a fellow hairdresser help others.”
