More than 90,000 beauty professionals, salon owners, educators, artists, students, manufacturers and distributors from across North America gathered at the 2019 America’s Beauty Show (ABS) on March 30 to April 1, 2019 to experience an action-packed, educational and inspirational event.
Held in Chicago, the event featured more than 360 exhibitors from around the world with product launches and demos from professional brands, and celebrated beauty through live competitions and runway shows with top creative artists.
Day one began with The Beauty Tech Playground, in which attendees were able to experience a high-energy, curated area with a DJ and inspiration from brands and educators, as well as virtual reality.
This year, there were two runways that headlined: Premier Beauty Supply and SalonCentric. The show kicked off with exciting presentations by brands including L’Oréal Professionnel, Matrix, Moroccanoil, Redken, Pravana, Pulp Riot, Sexy Hair and more.
Beth Minardi, best known for being the “queen of colour,” wowed the audience with foil techniques and colour formulas that were demonstrated on live models.
Barbering was a major trend at the show this year, as seen at the Crazy Hands Barber Competition hosted by Major League Barbers.
Day two was the show’s most exciting day and the shows were packed! Complimentary education sessions were offered at the new TEKNIK Center, where step by step and how-tos for cutting and colouring, updos and techniques were showcased by top educators.
Presentations included Redken educators, Sam Villa, Lori Zabel and Jamie Digrazia, along with Electric Hairdressing London and more.
The Age of the Artist Movement (TAOTAM) Awards also took place on day two, which featured stage performances including a hair battle and VIP access class.
