The highly anticipated annual beauty professional event, International Salon and Spa Expo, hits the west coast once again with a sold-out expo floor offering the latest trends and new product knowledge. Plus, this year ISSE is going beyond hair to offer a total beauty event, encompassing nails, esthetics, cosmetics, and advanced education. With more than 350 international beauty brands, such as Aveda, Conair, Moroccanoil, OPI Products Inc., Wella Professional, nearly 150 classes and dynamic live stage performances, here are four highlights to look forward to.
1. Expanded Beauty Competitions
For the first time, ISSE will host Major League Barber’s Hot Hands Barber Brawl competitions on January 26 in five different categories. Did we mention that the winner walks away with a bevy of tools and products just for barbering? In addition, PBA’s annual hairstyling competitions will continue to run on January 27, open to students and licensed professionals. View the entry rules and regulations at probeauty.org/isselb.
2. (Industry) Star Sighting
The lineup for stage shows include a host of the biggest names in hair, including Nick Arrojo, Berry Bachen and DJ Riggs, Martin Parsons, Sassoon Academy, and more. This year, look out for two main stages, Centre Stage and NAHA Stage.
3. All Things NAHA
You don’t want to miss the NAHA (North American Hairstyling Awards) stage. Featuring past winners and finalists, learn how to perfect your next photoshoot from the pros, as well as tips on styling techniques.
4. Stay Mobile
Plan your ISSE experience by downloading the free app, which includes show times, class schedules, and directions and a map to the show floor. Available for Android, iPhone, iPad and Blackberry.
