On Sunday, February 6, 2023 celebrities were dressed to impress for the 65th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. We have step-by-step details from three celebrity hairstylists on how to recreate some of the looks as seen on the red carpet.
Get the Look: Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton looked sleek and glamorous on the Grammy’s red carpet wearing a playful rhinestone dress. Celebrity hairstylist Eduardo Ponce completed her look by creating a Y2K inspired half-up half-down with a top knot and face framing pieces.
EDUARDO’S STEPS:
Step 1: Prep the hair with a straight balm before blow drying. This helps cut blow dry time drastically and gets the hair straight and frizz free.
Step 2: Once dry, straighten the hair and use the an anti-frizz oil serum in between sections.
Step 3: Once straight, create a half up style using a cocktail of an anti-frizz oil Serum and a glossing cream to mold and create a top knot.
Step 4: Once everything is in place, finish the style with the a flexible hold hairspray throughout.
Get the Look: Mary J. Blige
Celebrity hairstylist Tym Wallace, completed singer-songwriter, Mary J. Blige’s bold and bedazzled red carpet look with an extra- long high ponytail with soft waves.
TYM’S STEPS:
Step 1: Start by shampooing and blow drying the hair to prep for styling
Step 2: Use a straight balm before pressing the hair straight with a flat iron
Step 3: Add a brightening oil to the hair and smooth it into a high ponytail
Step 4: Next, use a 1-inch deep waver and a 1-inch flat iron to create soft waves, and add volume by using a root lift and backcombing the roots
Step 5: Finally, use dry shampoo to create textured pieces and finish off with the a flexible hold hairspray.
Get the Look: Laverne Cox
Actress and documentary film producer, Laverne Cox, channeled a high-fashion Cleopatra look for the 2023 Grammy’s red carpet. Celebrity hairstylist Kiyah Wright, created a braided sleek blonde style to compliment her look.
KIYAH’S STEPS:
Step 1: Start by creating three ponytails in the back and doing a French braid to give the back a little texture and creativity. Add a little texture with a double-strand twist braid on each side of her head to frame the face.
Step 2: Use an anti-frizz oil serum to help reduce frizz, create good slippage so the braid lays flat and boost shine.
Step 3: Then use a flexible hold hairspray to set the braids around the face.
