Last night was the 72nd Golden Globes, and while there were some unexpected wins, we couldn’t help but notice a theme with some of the hairstyles. Many of the celebs played it safe with their red carpet styles, but even in these classic go-to looks, there were some serious trends happening.
Deep Side Part
The deep side part was one of the most popular looks on the red carpet. Many leading ladies paired the deep side part with sleek, glamorous waves, like Jessica Chastain, Allison Williams and Kristen Wiig, whose looks were created by Wella Professionals. Reese Witherspoon and Golden Globe winners Amy Adams and Gina Rodriguez—not to mention hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—also opted for waves, while Rosamund Pike and Katie Holmes, who went for sleek, straight styles to go with their deep side part.
Buns
From low to high, buns seemed to be the en pointe updo of the night. Both Taylor Schilling and Anna Kenrick paired their tight low buns with an eye-catching centre part, while nominees Felicity Jones and Jennifer Aniston went for a softer look (though Aniston’s dress was really the focus of her look). Kate Beckinsale proved that the high, feminine ballerina bun isn’t going anywhere just yet.
Braids
Always a classy red-carpet style, Emily Blunt, Joanne Froggatt and Louise Roe opted for crown-braids. Whether it was lightly tousled-chic like Blunt’s and Roe’s, or sleek and serene like Froggatt’s, the crown-braid’s elegance is never understated. We can’t talk about braids without mentioning Jared Leto’s main braid! A change from the ever-popular man-bun, is this ushering in a new men’s trend for 2015? We sure hope so.
