Thousands of hairstylists, colourists and beauty pros travelled down south for Premiere Orlando 2023.
Held on June 4th and 5th at the Orange County Convention Center, the event featured stage presentations, product demos and educational seminars by some of the top professional beauty brands in North America.
Kicking off the main stage on Sunday was the one and only, Guy Tang, who shared his excitement and enthusiasm for being back on stage in North America for the first time in four years! He showcased #mydentity’s new Liquid Demi hair colour and emphasized the importance of heat protection to help protect hair colour and prevent damage.
On the show floor, some manufacturers had their own stage to host live demos and runway shows. Moroccanoil’s artistic director, Kevin Hughes, and artists including Greg Gilmore and Canada’s very own Lisa Dinh also took the stage for live colour and styling demos using the brand’s Color Rhapsody and Color Calypso hair colour.
Los Angeles-based Matthew Collins (who’s originally from Vancouver) took the stage at the Dyson booth to showcase styling techniques using the brand’s Supersonic Professional dryer and Corrale hair straightener.
Toronto-based hairstylist Rocky Vitelli took the stage at the Farouk Systems stage with international educator and platform artist Bradley Tuggle for live haircutting and styling demos and participated in a mini hair jam.
Among the stage presentations and demos were class seminars led by some of the industry’s top artists, such as Naeemah Lafond who taught a class that showcased “the art of big hair” in which Lafond demonstrated how to work with wigs to create big, bold and voluminous hair for photo shoots and runways.
Barbers gathered at the Barber Stage to watch onstage demos and live presentations by some of the industry’s top artists including Sofie Pok (aka. Staygold) and B.C.-based barber and Victory Barber & Brand founder, Matty Conrad
We also got the chance to chat with John Moroney from Olaplex about his new role as vice president of global education and customer experience, and David and Alexis Thurston about their new brand, Danger Jones.
