There’s no doubt that nail art has caught on like rapid-fire, but how will salons adapt and attract clients who do their own nails?
“Spa owners can inspire their clients by creating their own look book of new colours and nail art styles,” says Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND. Get your salon team together for some creative brainstorming and put together mood boards to capture a seasonal style concept. “They can also follow the fashion and beauty blogs to see what nail designs are being discussed and how people are accessorizing their fashion style with nails,” suggests Arnold.
Shel Pink, founder of SpaRitual, offers a community-building suggestion. “Salons can engage with a local artist, hold a series where people are invited to come and watch a demo by the artist who normally works with painting on a larger scale. So, the artist can teach a few designs, people can come and get inspired, and salons can charge for it and sell polish. Then people go home to create their own nail art, and return to the salons to have a nail art inspiration and share ideas. Don’t discourage nail art from happening at home; build that bridge between nail salon and home.”
