Want to take your hairstyling to the next level?
Consider investing in some training with celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson. His Advanced Academy offers a range of exciting classes focused on bringing a high fashion, celeb-inspired finish to all of your work.
Gibson’s “The $1,200 Haircut” class (the same price Gibson charges clients for a cut) teaches how to best maximize the value of your services. The secret? It’s got to be a lavish experience. “A lot of people don’t necessarily know what a 5-star luxury experience is, even as hairdressers,” says Gibson. “If you go to H&M and you go to Louis Vuitton, they both have quality products, but it’s about the experience when you go into each of them. At H&M, you fend for yourself and go through the racks. No one asks you if you want a beverage or need some help. But at Louis Vuitton, you have that experience of someone doting over you, making sure that your needs are met. That’s what I want to teach.”
Another perk of this class? You’ll get up close and personal with Gibson and his beauty philosophy over two days of hands on learning.
Other classes include “Technique to Trend”, where stylists learn Gibson’s Trifecta Haircutting System to gain a strong foundation on advanced haircutting that will last them their entire career; “Backstage to the Runway”, which teaches stylists how to recreate looks from Fashion Week for their clients and work on editorial photo shoots; and “Celebrity Couture”, a class in which celebs likes Jessica Chastain, Ashley Green and AnnaSophia Robb inspire red carpet interpretations of classic hairstyles.
Gibson has been a beauty school instructor and an on-stage educator at all the major beauty shows, so opening an academy came naturally to the industry veteran. “I always say that you’re as good as your last hairdo,” he says. “You have to be on top of your game.”
