If you’re looking for formal hair inspo for your clients attending events like weddings or proms, we’ve got you covered! Sam Villa ArTeam member, Anna Peters, has provided detailed step-by-step instructions on how to recreate this hairstyle for your clients. This stunning look accentuates the face while adding volume and intrigue to the back. What makes it truly remarkable is its versatility—it can be easily dressed up or down.
How To: Laid Back Luxe
Step 1: Blow Dry Hair Straight Back. Directionally blow dry hair straight back towards the occipital bone and away from the front hairline. Use a Sam Villa Professional Light Ionic Blow Dryer and a paddle brush for this step.
Step 2: Apply Redken Root Lifter. For extra control and hold, apply Redken Root Lifter volumizing mousse at the base throughout the head.
Step 3: Create X-Shaped Sections. Starting 1″ behind and below the ear on one side of the head, gather a small section of hair. Split the section into two strands and cross them to create an X shape. Take a small section of hair from the high point of the head directly above the X and place it smoothly in the middle of the X. Twist the strands once to create another X, pinch the center of the X to secure it. Add another section of hair from the high point of the head and lay it smoothly between the X. Twist the strands to secure the X shape. Continue this pattern across the nape of the head.Secure the sections on the opposite side of the head with an elastic.
Step 4: Create Volume and Softness in the Back. Take 1″ sections of hair in the back.Spray each section with Redken Thermal Spray. Comb through the section to distribute the product. Wrap the hair around a Sam Villa Artist Series 2-in-1 Marcel Iron and Wand (1.5″ with an extra-long barrel).Let the curls cool and hold each section with two fingers and ruche (push up) the hair to the desired volume and shape.
Step 5: Finish and Style. After completing the previous steps, your hair should have volume and shape.Finish the style as desired, such as adding hair accessories or applying a finishing spray for hold.
