For all your clients who are sporting the ‘stache for Movember Matthew Conrad, owner of Victory Barber and Brand, gives barbers some key pointers when recommending the best moustache. “There are a variety of moustaches to choose from, each one as individual and unique as the man who wears it. Be sure to choose a style that will suit his personality as well as his facial features,” he says.
1. Growing Surface
Consider the surface area. “How large is the upper lip? A large upper lip is often flattered by a full moustache,” says Conrad, who suggests a straight-down or “push-broom” style.
2. Hair Density
“Fine or sparse hair is not ideal for heavily sculpted looks,” says Conrad. Rather than trying to pull of the Southern Gent, your client might have more success with the Dandy or the Twister.
3. Hair Direction
“Outward growth is the easiest to curl into a classic upsweep tip,” says Conrad. The Colonel and the Classic Italian are all great styles for that bit of flourish at the ends.
4. Face Shape
“A full face looks best with either a lower corner, such as the Brogue, or a handlebar moustache style,” suggests Conrad.
