It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Doris Tan, president and founder of Edmonton-based International Beauty Services, on March 8th, 2014 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. . Tan was an icon in the Canadian salon industry and touched many people’s lives. She was also heavily involved in the Allied Beauty Association as a board member for many years, as well as women’s charities.
Close friend Rick Kornbluth (CEO of Kevin.Murphy) shared this message with International Beauty Services:
“This weekend the industry, world and Kim and I lost a visionary, leader, inspiration, friend and partner. We have had the great opportunity to know Doris for over 20 years now, she challenged me, prodded me, and made me a better person and businessman. I am and always will be grateful for our time together. I wish Sabrina, Graham and the rest of her immediate family and IBS family my heart felt condolence, we have all lost a really bright light in our lives. Rest in peace my friend.”
She will be greatly missed. To see more photos of Tan, visit the International Beauty Services Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation or the Edmonton Women’s Shelter (WIN House).
