The Aveda Institute Winnipeg has unveiled its new location and $4 million expansion.
Since 1996, the academy has been offering hair and wellness education, and has now relocated to 276 Portage Avenue in downtown Winnipeg with its new state-of-the-art cosmetology school.
The new campus will offer students education, a sustainable career path, as well as a wellness experience, with phase two of the renovations including a local café, rooftop patio, and yoga studio.
With more than 2,000 graduates—many of which becoming salon owners, editorial stylists and creative directors—the Aveda Institute Winnipeg offers students a hands-on experience, 1,400 hours of education with the industry’s top educators, as well as the chance to work with guests one day per week. Plus, the academy is the first cosmetology school in the region to offer a curriculum that includes all hair textures.
“Developing Canadian talent through an institute that educates, trains, and achieves success is one of our most pivotal goals. A career in hairstyling is a lucrative business and provides numerous opportunities for individuals both financially and professionally,” says Naomi Brien, marketing manager for the Aveda Institute Winnipeg. “There are many misconceptions that hairstylists don’t make money, or that it isn’t a ‘real’ career, however, the average hourly wage of a hairstylist is $38.37 and qualifies as a Red Seal Trade, which is the highest level of trade certification in Canada. There is no doubt that the field of beauty is a rewarding and profitable career that is deeply fulfilling to those who pursue it.”
The institute has begun offering 2023 start dates in May, July and September, and will be offering six start dates in 2024.
