It’s time to talk about salon interiors! There’s nothing better than working in a place that feels like heaven on earth. Let your space speak for itself—showcase your personality and freshen up the interior of your salon.
As going to the salon is part of your clients’ self–care routine, you must use the design of your salon to create a feeling of bliss for your clients; the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and hair transformation.
We have five interior design tips by Joel Divina, a Calgary-based designer and the owner of Assemble Consulting, that will help you transform your salon into the ultimate haven.
Divina was hired to design Rootbar, a salon in Calgary specializing in short luxury services. The project was to create an open environment that would accommodate express services while still evoking a feeling of elevation and luxury. After successfully accomplishing this, Divina compiled a list of tips and tricks to help other salons achieve the same level of opulence.

Light
If feasible in your salon, accentuate any natural lighting you may have. Natural lighting helps a space feel larger, cleaner, and brighter. Use light to enhance and showcase focal areas of your salon. Whether it’s the styling station or your front desk. Be sure to create the perfect ambiance and mood, while also providing efficient lighting for your stylists to work.

Texture and Colour
Many beauty salons opt-in for a minimal, all–white aesthetic and it’s no surprise as it’s a clean and simple approach to interior design. To step up the style of your salon and dare to be different, try focusing more on texture and colour. This is where you can let the personality of your business shine. Contrasting colours and textures create a more stylish and luxurious environment.
Declutter and Storage
A very important element to remember when creating the perfect salon environment is storage. Everything in your salon should have its place. Not only does this create structure but it also provides a sense of organization. Take time to declutter your salon and store away anything clients do not need to see. Failing to provide proper storage and removing excess clutter will result in a space that looks unkempt and unhygienic.

WOW Factor
Your dream salon is almost complete! Last but not least, include a WOW factor in your salon to create some visual interest. Add a visual element that takes your client’s breath away and leaves them excited to return each time. This could be a feature wall, or something oversized to create a feeling of luxury. Many salons use large mirrors and creative murals. The goal is to have something clients can be excited about and take photos of, something that showcases how cool and elevated your salon is.
