On September 15, stylists from across Ontario spent their Sundays soaking up insightful sales and marketing tips for the salon at Join.Me, a learning event by Kevin.Murphy. With guest speakers, incuding Sue Remes, a sales and marketing consultant with more than 25 years of experience in the beauty industry and Tim Abney, executive Style.Master and Kevin.Murphy educator, the sessions flew by.
Remes provided marketing strategies and thought-provoking business questions for stylists to take home, such as, how to anticipate the needs and problems clients have, while positioning the solutions as sales opportunities. After a healthy catered lunch, Abney led the energized crowd through tips on how to adapt the business acumen into the everyday, creative world of salon life. A teacher at heart, he also has the skills to break down elements of editorial hairstyling and shaping these into a fun and engaging learning experience.
Remes says that every salon owner and stylist should be able to answer 3 key questions to navigate the current world of retail and service:
- Who is the customer?
- Why should clients spend money with me, or what diffrentiates my business?
- What are the expectations the customer has of services right now?
Stay tuned for more details and business tips from Remes in an upcoming issue of Salon Magazine.
