What does giving back mean in your business? For Kozeta Izeti, owner of Kozeta Salon and Spa in Toronto, showing her thanks in the salon led to a day of free haircuts for children of Red Door Shelter, where she, her husband and young baby first turned to when they arrived to Toronto 13 years ago from Albania with $70 in their pockets and no English language comprehension.
On August 26, Kozeta’s Salon and Spa and local businesses gave fresh back-to-school cuts and backpacks filled with school supplies to 50 children, as part of a unique fundraiser for the Red Door Shelter.
“I am so thankful to the people at the Red Door and to the City of Toronto for giving me a chance to make a life here for our family. I was overwhelmed by the unconditional welcome we received, and now it’s my turn to demonstrate the same for others,” says Izeti. “I am so proud that my staff and my neighbours are donating their money and time to help The Red Door kids, who face so many obstacles and uncertainties.”
