Stylists gathered in Toronto for a gala celebration and night of inspiration at L’Oreal Professionnel’s Color Trophy 2013. It was the first Canadian Color Trophy to be held outside Quebec and attendees came from across Canada for the night. Finalists for the competition were chosen from each region in semi-final competitions held by province in the spring.
Highlights from the night included the first-ever Masters Competition. The eight competitors had a minimum of 15 years experience and appeared onstage with a timed, 30-minute window to create the look they would be judged on. They were each assigned models they had never seen before that moment, creating a great atmosphere of excitement for the audience, who gathered around the stage to watch and take photos. Silas Tsang, co-owner of Blushes in Ottawa, was declared the winner. The evening also featured Eric Zemmour, a master stylist and member of Haute Coiffure Francais. He offered a beautiful 30-minute presentation of models, including three looks he created onstage.
The night concluded with the awarding of the Color Trophy Grand Prize, which includes a trip to Paris for the winning team, as well as additional education. The team from Guylaine Martel Artistes Coiffeurs—Shanti Normandeau Soulieres, Roxanne Languirand, Marika D’Auteuil and their model, Joanie Petit—were declared the winners. The team also took home the prize of regional winner for Quebec.
