Who: Stylists from Solo Bace, Lift Salon & Spa and April Maloney Salon, clients, donors, volunteers, and longtime corporate sponsor Schwarzkopf Professional.

What: The Mane Event, an annual fundraiser where stylists donate the cost of their services to the Teresa Group Family Support Program. The program currently serves 750 children and their families who are affected by HIV/AIDS by offering tutoring programs, school supplies, camping trips and a special holiday party.

How & Why: Founder Steve Roy created and organized The Mane Event to help children living with HIV/AIDS and to reduce the stigma associated with the disease. During the past 14 years, The Mane Event has raised more than $300,000 for Teresa Group programs and services and more than 2,500 clients have supported the event.

When & Where: October 23 at Solo Bace Salon (18 Yorkville Ave.), April Maloney Salon (178 Avenue Rd.) and Lift Salon + Spa (90 Adelaide St. E.) in Toronto.
