Congratulations to the nine talented Canadians from across the country who are finalists in the 2012 North American Hairstyling Awards!
Edwin Johnston (Cutting Room Creative, Nanaimo, BC), Anna Pacitto (Salon Pure, Montreal), and Tony Ricci (Ricci Hair Co., Edmonton) are helping Canadians dominate the Master Hairstylist category. Pacitto describes how she created this collection: “This year, I did a few photos for the team and two of the shots turned out to my liking, so I decided to go on with a collection. I am so pleasantly surprised!”
Alain Pereque, Valeria Amirova and Sevan Tatoulian (also from Salon Pure) made the cut in the Hairstylist of the Year, Newcomer Stylist and Makeup categories, respectively. Says Pereque about becoming a finalist, “I’m honoured, I’m humbled, I’m absolutely delighted!”
A Michael Levine Salon Group is a finalist in the Salon Team Category, and when Levine found out about making it in the top five, he “had a heart attack! I got an email congratulating me from an associate and I immediately called our creative director Alina Friesen. She answered the phone already hysterical so I knew she had watched the nomination video.”
In the Salon Design category, Studio So Lara (Kitchener, ON) secures a spot as a finalist. “I’m surprised more than anything. It’s the first time I entered the NAHAs, and looking at the other work it can be intimidating at times,” says Lara Leckie, owner of Studio So Lara. “But it was time to enter, and I’m proud of the salon, I’m proud of the way it looks.” Zazou Salon & Spa in North Vancouver is a finalist in the Salon MBA category.
It’s another great day for Canadian beauty professionals!
