As they work their way up, young up-and-coming beauty professionals are blazing trails and making waves. We scoured the country to find out who is doing what and how it all began. Here is our chat with up-and-coming beauty professional, Moe Rahall.
Salon Magazine: How did you get your start in hair? Why did you decide to be a part of this industry?
Moe Rahall: Growing up, my family owned a salon. At a very young age, I spent a lot of time helping out and watching my father and brother do hair. When I was old enough, I started to be more hands-on and learned the trade. The passion my family had for the industry was carried on to me.
SM: What drives and motivates you as hairstylist .
MR: What motivates me is the expansion of my business and a huge part of that is the team I built. I mentor my staff and teach them the techniques and skills they need to offer continuous customer satisfaction.
SM: What is your expertise? What do you specialize in or excel at?
MR: My biggest strengths are men’s hairstyling and salon management .
SM: What is the one lesson you’ve learned throughout your education and career that you still keep in mind today?
MR: Building a relationship with your clients is just as important as the service your provide them .
SM: Who is your mentor or who do you look up to when it comes to hair? Anyone in particular on social media?
MR: My biggest mentor would have to be my older brother Shadi. He has been a tremendous help with the success of our business.
SM: Who is your hair hero? Is there someone you want to work with?
MR: Since my passion is barbering, I would say working with the Boys from ” the scum bag Barbershop” would be very inspiring.
SM: As a young artist, what has been the biggest challenge have you faced and how have you overcome that?
MR: When I was new to barbering, I wasn’t always given the opportunity because clients weren’t familiar with me. Believing in my self and working as hard as I could to perfect my skill gave me the confidence to push through that and build a huge clientele.
SM: Who gave you the best advice as you embarked on your career and what was that advice?
MR: Definitely my father. His motto was “self belief and hard work will always earn you success “
SM: What is your one must-have product?
MR: Joico – Eratic.
SM: What are your goals for the next 5 to 10 years? Where do you see yourself in the beauty industry?
MR: My brother and I currently own 5 salons and employ over 65 stylists. Our Future Goal is to continue to expand with more locations and franchisees.
