ABA Competitions
Details: With competitions in Canadian cities (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax) the Allied Beauty Association offers the hairstylist the opportunity to compete close to home. The competitions includes a diversity of categories including New Talent, Men’s Trend Cut & Style and Women’s Trend Cut & Style. American Crew All-Star Challenge
Details: Recognizing the best men’s hairstylists around the globe the American Crew All-Star Challenge offers finalists the opportunity to hone their skills while being immersed in the American Crew culture. Put your styling skills to the test and submit photos to be judged by a panel of male style experts, for the next challenge beginning in September.

Aveda Institute Born To Style
Details: Make your mark in the beauty industry with Aveda Canada. Four aspiring hairstylist will be selected in each city (Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver) to compete head-to-head putting together two complete looks for a live runway show.

The Contessa: The Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards
Details: Open to every bona fide, working member of a Canadian professional beauty salon, including freelancers and salon owners, the Contessa Awards are Canada’s long-running photo-based hairdressing competition. With more than twenty categories, the Awards offer individuals from across the nation the opportunity to showcase original, creative talent and technical expertise.

Cosmoprof Fashion Frenzy
Details: Students create hairstyles on mannequin heads, and upload photos to the contest website. Entrants must share their entry on social media to earn votes. The six entrants with the most votes head to New York to compete live for the Grand Prize. The winner has their look featured in an issue of the CosmoProf Shopping Guide and also receives a $500 CosmoProf shopping spree.

Goldwell ColorZoom Challenge
Details: Kick start your creativity with Goldwell’s Color Zoom Challenge. For this photo-based competition, hairstylists compete in one of three categories, New Talent, Creative and Partner. Judging in each category is based on the interpretation of the look, colour technique and product use as well as overall photo aesthetic.

L’Oreal Colour Trophy
Details: The longest running live hair competition in the world, Brittain’s L’Oreal Colour Trophy embodies “hair inspired by fashion.” Judging in each of the five categories is based on colour and editorial style, with a new People’s Choice category for 2015.

North American Hairstyling Awards
Details: The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHAs) are one of the most prestigious phototgraphic beauty competitions in North America. You can show off your skills and artistry in 14 creative categories and compete with the best in the professional salon industry. Winners are announced at a star-studded awards ceremony in July.

Revlon Style Masters
Details: With one cut, hairstylists create three looks, showcasing their creative talents in the Revlon Style Masters competition. Schwarzkopf Professional’s Next Essential Looks Artist Search
Details: Compete with hairstylists from across the nation to become Schwarzkopf Professional’s Next Essential Looks Artist. Along with submitting model before and after shots, hairstylists must include a short five-minute video that showcases their live-cutting skills and personality. Selected finalists will be invited to Toronto to compete on stage at the Next Essential Looks Artist Show.

Alternative Hair Show Visionary Awards
Sponsored by Tigi, this international photographic hairdressing competition celebrates artistry and creativity, while helping to raise funds for charity. Finalists from each country are invited to present a model during the Visionary Awards Show, which is a part of Alternative Hair Show in London. There are two categories to enter: Commercial cut & colour and Avant-Garde.

Wella Professional’s International TrendVision Awards
Details: Taking inspiration from Wella Professioanl’s latest trend collection, hairstylists are encouraged to enter in either Color or Young Talent (30 years of age or younger) categories. Submissions should include one before image and one image of your finished work and stylists will be judged according to colour and styling techniques as well as the overall look.
