Damien Carney offers his tips for giving clients these leading lady hairstyles in your salon.
The Shiny Bob
Rose Byrne and Anna Faris rocked shiny, sleek bobs on the red carpet. “I loved that each of these stars chose strong, simple silhouettes and styles that weren’t overly done,” says Carney. “I thought that their choices were perfect for their gowns, and that they each looked fresh, modern and a bit non-conformist.”
To get this look, shampoo and condition hair with smoothing products, apply a few drops of leave-in treatment to damp hair and blow dry with a large round brush, making to sure to create a curved movement on the ends. Carney recommends Joico Smooth Cure Leave-In Rescue treatement to add body and health to the hair.
The Loop
Rooney Mara’s edgy look hinges on a strong, curbed fringe that extends beyond the hairline on each side, according to Carney. To get the look, shampoo, condition and blow-dry with a large round brush until the hair is free of all moisture. The goal isn’t to smooth strands completely. Gather hair just above the occipital bone and use a bungee-style elastic to create a pony tail. Smooth and twist remaining hair into a bun, secure with pins and mist with a finishing spray.
Regardless of the event, Carney says it’s not always about perfection but understated, healthy looking hair that looks flattering. “That is what is worthy of an award!”
