The world has said goodbye to one of the industry’s leading innovators. On June 10, Margaret Vinci Heldt passed away at age 98 in Illinois.
Heldt was a renowned hairstylist, who owned a salon in downtown Chicago and was best known for creating the beehive hairstyle—a style made popular in the ’60s after Heldt created the ‘do for a magazine cover.
Since then, fashion icons Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn have sported the ‘do, along with celebrities including Beyoncé and the late Amy Winehouse.
