What is the biggest highlight of Style Masters we look forward to every year?
Traveling to Brussels, Belgium to take part in the Style Masters Show 2017 this year was exhilarating, as always. From the shows revealing the year’s upcoming trends from Revlon Professional, CND and American Crew, to the live Revlon Professional Style Masters and American Crew All-Star Challenge competitions, more than 3,5000 stylists, salon owners and industry leaders from 60 countries came together under one roof and the energy was electric.
The Trends and Launches
The Style Masters Show celebrated artistic talent, showcasing current trends and products, as well as those to come, opening with a celebration of the talent of last year’s nine Style Masters finalists led by Style Master 2016 Global Winner Anne Veck.
Revlon Professional’s global creative and artistic director and emcee for the evening, Miquel Garcia Cotado introduced the year’s trends from Revlon Professional, including the vibrant and voluminous spring/summer ’17 Havana collection; the Amazonia collection, featuring texture, braids and length styled using products from the new Orofluido line of the same name; and the upcoming fall/winter ’17 Design collection, featuring intricate black and blonde looks, smooth textures and woven layers. The brand also launched a line of versatile styling products, Double or Nothing, featuring four products with two purposes each. From American Crew, we saw the Americana Collection, Clocktower and Morning Glory trends.
The Competitions
The live competitions were thrilling, watching stylists from around the world creating works of art and classic styles under a time crunch. For the Style Masters finalists, to see their work strut the runway on that stage in Brussels is a major accomplishment and to compete in Belgium for the American Crew All-Star Challenge is a very unique and exciting experience. We send out our congratulations to all the finalists, especially Canada’s own Style Master 2017 international finalist Stéphane Scotto Di Cesare of Montreal and American Crew All-Star Challenge international finalist Hassan Nasser of Avlaon Salon and Spa in Calgary. A special congratulations goes out to Style Master 2017 Global Winner Julia Beckers from Germany and American Crew All-Star Challenge 2017 Global Winner Adam Mir of the United Kingdom.
The Biggest Highlight
Beyond the trends and competitions, there’s another aspect of the annual Style Masters Show that is equally noteworthy: The coming together of the world’s premier salons and stylists in one city to celebrate, network and create new connections.
While it’s common to talk about finding your tribe or building your connections online, events like Style Masters are a whole other level of networking. It’s about learning and gathering inspiration, creating connections that can take your salon to the next level or finding a stylist whose abilities will push you to rise higher.
