We’ve got step-by-step instructions for recreating the hottest nail designs from the fall/winter 2013 runways shows.
1. From Paris with Love at DSquared2, by Antonio Sacripante, Morgan Taylor lead nail technician for DSquared2 runway shows
How-to
Apply Go Ahead and Grow base coat and wait two minutes before applying two coats of lacquer, starting from the cuticle to the edge of the nail bed.
Using fine-tipped tweezers, pick up a decal and lay it gently onto the nail. Use the fine tip to gently press on and secure
the decal.
Apply Need for Speed top coat for a glossy, durable finish.
2. Padded Cell at the Blonds by Shelena Robinson, CND education ambassador
How-to
Mix 1.5 parts Retention+ Liquid and one part Retention+ Bright White Powder, applying a thin layer of liquid and powder over a pre-shaped tip as a base layer.
Apply a slightly thicker layer of the liquid and powder to one nail at a time, and allow to set for 30 to 60 seconds.
Press netted fabric into the liquid and powder, keeping the squares lined up to create a padded-cell impression.
3. Metallic Oil Spill Texture at Rebecca Minkoff, Rita Remark, Essie lead artist
How-to
Apply As Gold as it Gets, Penny Talk, Go Overboard, Blue Rhapsody and Aruba Blue in small dots, starting with the darkest shades and ending
with the metallics, all over the nail bed.
Swirl the colours together with a thin paintbrush dipped in top coat. To avoid a brown mess, don’t glob on the small dots and use top coat between colours.
Finish with No Chips Ahead top coat.
4. Katherine Polk at Houghton by Renee Meyers, OPI lead Manicurist
How-to
Apply Samoan Sand lacquer to nails.
Top nails with lace from the designer garments in the runway collection.
Shape the free edge into a slightly pointed oval shape.
