Going Full Circle: Known for its global initiatives, Kevin.Murphy has joined forces with Green Circle Salons. Together they’ll champion sustainability from the production level through to salon services and waste management while working with participating salons and stylists to help fulfill the Green Circle mission of a sustainable beauty industry.
Fresh Start: Toronto’s Sassoon Salon moved from its Avenue Road location to the esteemed Yorkville neighbourhood this August. With the prestigious Sassoon Academy operating on the third floor of the 3,000 square feet three-story space, this new salon encapsulates, with true Sassoon style, the company’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and inherent beauty.
Back to School: Fuel, lead by an international team of beauty professionals with a passion for day-to-day cutting and upstyling needs, has launched and seeks
to educate and equip stylists with tangible skills and techniques, quality performance products and tools to take from the classroom directly onto the floor the very next day.

It’s a Revolution: Using Paul Mitchell’s six economies service marketing tips, this year’s rEvolution was an opportunity for beauty industry professionals to refresh their skills, generate new ways of doing business and creatively tell their stories both in and out of the salon.
#TOMFW: As the eighth men’s fashion week world wide, Toronto Men’s Fashion Week shines a global spotlight on Canadian menswear. American Crew’s Canadian artist Pete Goupil led the backstage team of hairstylists, including stylists from Fioro, and worked with designers in creating runway-ready looks. Cosmoprof 2015: The award winning beauty tradeshow showcased over 1,000 exhibitors to 30,000 attendees from 39 different countries at three-day event in Las Vegas July 12 to 14. The event featured unique brand and product launches like the new Ohio-based company Fuel, an education-focused brand with a no-nonsense curriculum and an eight-range product line.

TIGI World Release: After months of planning, TIGI World Release 2015 took place at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on August 24 and 25. See the highlights of this inspirational and educational event here.
UNITE Global Sessions 2015: This year’s UNITE Global Sessions will take place in London, UK October 4 to 7 and will feature 21 internationally celebrated artists presenting the lateset in creative styling. The event will allow salon business owners and managers the opportunity to participate in UNITE’s business education support programme and salon team members may elect to receive Look & Learn coaching.

New Roles: Schwarzkopf Professional Canada has made some changes with John Fortunato and Frank Bruno, both in new roles with the brand. Read more about these changes here.
Moving up: After serving at John Paul Mitchell Systems as national sales director for four years, Max Paganalli has taken over the role of general manager at Salon Centre where he’ll be working alongside Cosimo Minnella, managing director, and will continue to have a hand in all aspects of the Manitoba distributor’s business from sales, marketing and operations.
Climbing the ladder: Paul Mitchell has promoted Jason Yates to serve as the brand’s new vice president of sales and marketing. Yates first stepped into the industry while on the salon floor over 25 years ago and has continued to fast track to the top. He will be heading up the team responsible for sales and training, implementing JPMS initiatives, strategies, and culture within the distribution network while also playing a key role in product development and product innovation.
Rewarding Excellence: Danny Thournout, territory manager for the Canadian team for The Kirschner Group, was awarded International Sales Executive of the Year for 2014 for the company and, following this achievement, was presented the A World of Difference Award at Cosmoprof North America.
