Congratulations to Shanti Normandeau Soulières, who took home the trophy for second place at Haute Coiffure Française (HCF), a competition in partnership with L’Oréal Professionnel. Normandeau Soulières is from Salon Guylaine Martel Artists Coiffeurs in Saint-Hilaire and also a Contessa 23 finalist for Quebec Hairstylist of the Year.
Held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris on February 17, stylists from around the world gathered to compete and showcase their creative talent for a chance to have their work displayed internationally.
The inspiration behind Normandeau Soulières’ winning look comes from her model’s avant-garde elegance. On the colour, she says “I worked with pastel colours for over a year in order to master the complexity and softness of colours like copper-pink, pale peach and lilac.”
In preparation, Normandeau Soulières trained for 20 hours each week leading up to the HCF in order to remain calm and collected when presenting in front of 100 competitors from 20 countries. All the hard work paid for the young stylist, who was mentored by Guylaine Martel for 15 years. She describes the competition as “the most beautiful experience in my life.”
