Who: More than 1000 members of the Canadian professional beauty community, including Contessa finalists and representatives from the top names in the industry.
What: The completely sold out 23rd Annual Canadian Hairstylist of the Year Awards was a night that won’t soon be forgotten. Big winners included Véronique Beaupré, who won Canadian Hairstylist of the Year, Salon Team, and Quebec Hairtylist of the Year. Double winner Timothy Switzer took home Master Colourist and Makeover Colourist, and Mandy Macfadden also received two Contessas for Texture and Ontario Hairstylist of the Year. See the full list of winners here. The night also featured a tribute to hairstyling icon John Steinberg, and the renaming of the community service award in his honour.
The fashionable crowd from across the country was entertained by three spectacular stage presentations based on this year’s theme, Cities After Dark. Rossa Jurenas created a Sex in the City meets the 80’s style show inspired by the gritty New York nightlife for Schwarzkopf Professional. Colin Ford presented glamorous, Brigitte Bardot-inspired locks perfect for the streets of Paris for L’Oreal Professionnel. Michelle Pargee took the audience on a trip to Tokyo, the land of geishas, with spectacular, architectural looks, some with their own fiber optics, for Goldwell.
How & Why: A star-studded celebration of the best in Canadian professional beauty, the Contessas wouldn’t happen without the generous sponsors and the stylists who put so much time and effort into creating their fabulous collections.
When & Where: October 30th in Toronto.
