The Metro Toronto Convention Centre was bustling with eager students and beauty professionals on both Sunday and Monday, February 28th and 29th for the 2016 Toronto Allied Beauty Association Show. Between live show on the main stage, brand demonstrations and educational seminars, it was a jam-packed two days! Here are some of the highlights from the show:
Guy Tang’s live stage show
How could this not make our list? For his first time in Canada, Guy Tang took the stage to share his balayage technique, the shooting star, with his #hairbesties. With his larger-than-life personality, he drew an impressive crowd. Be sure to check out our Twitter and Instagram feeds for some of his top tips.
The Peter Copola Booth
To inject some of their personality into the booth, the Peter Copola crew had a photo booth set up where attendees could take some snaps with fun, flapper-era props. Definitely a fun way to stand out!
Babe Hair Extensions
Babe Hair Extensions has a fun, cheeky approach to their product and stylists were on hand demonstrating how they apply the extensions. Seeing how the products work on a live models is always the best way to capture an audience, and to have a little fun! Our very first Social Media Ambassador, Josie Villayvanh is also a huge fan of Babe Hair Extensions, and has posted videos on her YouTube channel using the product. There may be a collaboration with Josie and Babe in the works—stay tuned for more details!
Invisibobble Hair Rings: the Nano
In the Salon Magazine office, we’ve all become Invisibobble converts, so we were thrilled to find a mini-version of our favourite traceless hair ring. These tiny hair rings are perfect for the trendy half-up-half-down look.
Long Hair Bridal Trends
Live on the main stage on Sunday, hairstylists were creating trendy looks for long-hair bridal styles. Hair accessories aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, there were plenty of flower crowns, sparkly gems and glitter to match those loose curls. The live stage was busy over the weekend with competitions, including barbering, makeup looks and creative technical blowdrying.
Elchim Milano 8th Sense Hairdryer
This brand has been around since 1945, and has been owned by the same family for three generations. If you want a high-performing hairdryer that’s lightweight and sleek, look no further. The best part? Even though it’s a powerful machine, it’s surprisingly quiet!
