You may think braids are just a summer trend, but the Fall/Winter 2013 runways showcased preppy braids for the cooler weather.
Here are thee top braided styles spotted at the shows.
The Clean ‘Katniss’ Braid
Braids are simplified and girlish, but polished this fall. A simple long braid to the side with a headband is as chic as it is easy to create. Jorge Joao, World MasterCard Fashion Week lead stylist, suggests applying a hair oil, like Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine, before styling to help create a clean, sleek finish.

The Coronet Braid
The messy, braided headband was huge for summer. This season, pin it up neatly for a look that’s simple but regal. Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil Artistic Director, created the natural look at Alice + Olivia by letting loose hairs fall where they would and carefully blending two wide braids at the top of the head with pins. Pull out a few wisps if you desire and seal the style with a light misting of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray.

The Braided Bun
For those not blessed with long thick hair, a chic, low braided bun allows you to play with this trend for fall. Corral Calero, recommends pulling hair back, letting it arch over the ears, before braiding lengths of hair and wrapping it into a long, loose triangular chignon. Feel free to widen the braid using your fingers for a freer, more whimsical style.
