The 48th annual American Music Awards (AMAs) were held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. While it was far from a traditional music awards show, complete with a virtual red carpet and stage, there was no shortage of stunning hair and beauty looks. Here are a few of our favourites.
Jennifer Lopez
As a red-carpet favourite, it’s no surprise that Jennifer Lopez made our list with her wet waves created by none other than celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. Lopez, who is no stranger to experimenting with her looks, changed up her usual long locks for an effortlessly chic long bob. What look can’t she pull off? – Veronica Boodhan, editor-in-chief
Dua Lipa
It was a big night for Dua Lipa, who walked away with her first-ever AMA award. The singer, who recently collaborated on a song with Miley Cyrus, kept her dark locks sleek and polished with a nice wave in the back that paired well with her playful, sea-inspired mini dress. — Sami Chazonoff, assistant editor
Cara Delevingne
Known for her rocker-chic style, model Cara Delevingne changed things up, opting for an ultra-feminine look with a modern take on Old Hollywood glamour. Created by Danielle Priano for UNITE Haircare, Delevingne’s cascading long blonde waves were the perfect complement to her metallic silver power suit. — Veronica Boodhan, editor-in-chief
Becky G
The singer-songwriter, who took home the award for Favorite Female Artist, looked ultra-glamourous from head-to-toe. From her dark roots melted into her honey brown curls to a sleek side part, her look was both classic and on-trend. Her neutral makeup paired beautifully with her white dress with silver accents and accessories to give her whole look an angelic feel. — Sami Chazonoff, assistant editor
Doja Cat
The New Artist of the Year winner glammed it up at the AMAs with a strapless brown frock. Her dewy skin was glowing with a hint of metallic gold eyeshadow. Her chocolate hair colour is perfect for this season and was perfectly parted on the side and elegantly swept in the front for a “boy cut,” created by L.A.-based hairstylist, JStayReady, and there’s no doubt she absolutely rocks the short hair look! — Sami Chazonoff, assistant editor
Shawn Mendes
Kicking off the show to perform his latest song, “Monster”, with fellow Canuck, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes embraced his natural texture with grown-out tousled curls. Whether it’s because he’s missed a haircut appointment or two due to the pandemic, or has simply decided to grow out his boyish short locks, the 22-year-old is clearly loving the trend of longer hair for men, and we must say, we are, too! — Veronica Boodhan, editor-in-chief
