After such a blah Golden Globes, the Grammys promised to be sweet relief as far as interesting hair goes. It’s always fun to see what Gaga shows up in (she had a sceptre). And Nicki Minaj has interesting ensembles (her hair was boring, but her date, the “Pope,” was certainly something to talk about). Neither of them made my list for the Hair Grammys, though. Here’s who did. Agree? Disagree? Tell me below!
Best Golden Girl: ADELE!
Sorry for the caps, but I just love her—along with millions of the rest of you! Her hair is shorter and more blonde than the last time we saw her, but she still looked glam and golden. Or maybe that was just the reflection from the six Grammys she was cradling at the end of the night?
Best in Class: Rihanna
While Adele stole the night with her wins, Rihanna stole the red carpet with her crazy amounts of style. My vote for favourite hair of the night goes to her. The dark roots with the blond, loose curls just screams cool. Combined with the matte black dress and muted gold accessories, it’s a throwback to the ’70s that works. I even see a little Farrah Fawcett there with the hair, no?
Best Jen Aniston Copycat: Julianne Hough
Love the dress, love the pretty hair (especially the blunt cut ends) and love the makeup. But I truly thought for a minute that this was Jennifer Aniston. From the de rigeur black dress to the blonde, California girl highlights to the tasteful, neutral make-up, Ryan Seacrest’s signifiicant other looks like a bit of a clone.
Worst Style Switch: Taylor Swift
Arriving on the red carpet, her hair was pulled up into a sleek high bun, no fringe, that perfectly suited her high-necked dress. Post-performance, the wispy fringe was back, along with the loose wispy strands falling out of a lower bun. A not so elegant finish to a promising night.
Best Hot Mess: Cyndi Lauper
Really, Cyndi? That hair needs some help. Maybe a deep conditioning/strengthening treatment?
Best Berry Blue Hair/Worst Oompa-Loompa Orange Skin: Katy Perry
Love the height on top for Katy Perry’s blue ‘do. It was something that was seen on several celebs at the Golden Globes and I’m guessing it’ll show up at the Oscars, too. Katy rocked the blue pompadour, but she should have knocked off the self-tanner. The orange skin put her look over the edge.
