Meghan Markle is famous for her easy, breezy, beautiful hair and most notably for bringing the messy bun to the royal forefront. Unlike her sister-in-law Kate who’s hair is always impeccable, never a strand out of place, Meghan likes things a little looser and she brought her laid back and beautiful glamour to her wedding day (hooray!)
She turned to Serge Normant, the favourite stylist of Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts to create her gorgeous wedding updo, a style that was the perfect match for her now-iconic Givenchy gown. Just as the Duchess of Sussex’s dress was simple, elegant and unadorned, so too was her hair. Nomant says it took him just 45 minutes to create the Duchess’ wedding ‘do, a messy bun paired with wispy face framing layers.
The pair communicated frequently about her wedding look leading up to the day, but Normant says several trials were not required, the bride new what she wanted: an amplified, more glamourous look of a style she wears often in her everyday life. Another consideration for keeping the style effortless and classic was the fact the Duchess had some pretty impressive accessories to add to the look—the stunning Queen Mary Bandeau tiara and a 16-foot long hand embroidered veil.
For her evening reception look, Meghan turned up the heat with her wedding look choosing a Stella McCartney halter gown with serious red carpet sizzle. She also switched up her hair and her stylist! British hairstylist George Northwood styled her hair into a higher, tighter chignon but kept the wispy bits in front. The look was Hollywood glam, with an effortless twist…exactly the way all wedding hair should be.
