Toronto’s very own Priyanka took home the title of “Queen of the North” when she became the first-ever winner of Canada’s Drag Race on September 3, 2020.
The reality TV competition is a Canadian edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race, in which drag queens perform and compete for a chance of winning $100,000 along with other prizes.
Priyanka (also known as Mark “Suki” Suknanan) is a well-known Toronto drag queen who spends most of her weekends putting on live shows at drag bar Crews & Tangos in Toronto’s Church and Wellesley village.
The first-ever Canada’s Drag Race season was hosted by Brooke Lynn Hytes, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Stacey McKenzie, and featured drag queens from across the country. The season showcased incredible raw talent, immaculate design, beauty and humour, and paid homage to Canada’s roots.
Priyanka, who is known for her amazing sense of style and hair, recently worked with Toronto-based hairstylist Kirsten Klontz who created a “super long” wig for the Canadian queen and captured the entire process on Instagram, using Bellami’s Tokyo Style wig model in Jet Black and also used the 1.5inch Black Gold Curling Iron by Hot Tools.
