After months of planning, TIGI World Release 2015 took place at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on August 24 and 25. This two-day event brought together 2,500 industry attendees and showed off the brand’s latest trends and cut and colour techniques, as well as upcoming launches and innovations. Anthony Mascolo, TIGI international artistic director, brought together his team, Pat Mascolo, Thomas Osborn, Michael Lindsay, Akos Bodi, Christel Lundqvist and Jiv D, to create this year’s experience.
The show: TIGI pulled out all the stops for the day-long creative presentation, which included interpretations of each of the brand’s lines and what they represent: Bed Head, Bed Head for Men, Catwalk, Copyright Colour and S Factor. In the evening, it was inspiration overload with “TIGI Tales,” incorporating themes of dark and light and fairytale-like elements. Legendary international hairstylist Robert Lobetta worked with the TIGI creative team to create a spectacle presentation that showed off vibrant colours and textures with hand-painted Japanese wigs and costumes to match.
The education: This event wouldn’t be complete without a day of look-and-learn education, beginning with Copyright Colour and ended with an inspirational segment where Anthony Mascolo showcased cutting techniques on-stage and, true to the brand’s form, defied conventions. In addition, Mascolo recreated one of the brand’s campaigns in a live photo shoot that not only gave insight to the latest collection, but also offered inspiration for creating photo shoots.
The launch: Following the “lived-in” trend that we’re going to be seeing in spades throughout the upcoming fall season, TIGI promoted its latest launch: Joyride, a paste-to-powder styling product that allows you and your client to create an undressed, undone look, full of texture.
